Detroit Village Initiative (DVI) was founded in 2015 as a joint venture between Reimer Priester, Alex DeCamp and Astral Weeks Development.   Conceived as a neighborhood development organization, the partners identified the opportunity to rehabilitate a large number of vacant homes adjacent to historic Indian Village and West Village.

Focused primarily on the area north of Kercheval between East Grand Boulevard and Indian Village, DVI seeks to positively effect this neighborhood and the surrounding communities through high quality renovations of affordable and market rentals, providing for-sale homes and developing new infill housing and mixed-use projects.  DVI works closely with community and municipal stakeholders to ensure that their development plans are consistent with the planning efforts and future vision led by the City of Detroit and its neighborhood-based partners.
